It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Martin Perez, Jr., on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in San Angelo, Texas. Martin found joy in life's simple treasures, especially music, which filled his mornings with warmth and comfort. He was able to fulfill this cherished memory on his final morning with his friend, as melodies played softly in their room, a fitting farewell for someone who found such peace in these daily moments.
Martin Perez, Jr., graced the earth on November 5, 1941, born to his loving parents Martin Perez, Sr. and Mary Magdalena Perez, in Brownwood, Texas.
Martin served in the United States Army as a corpsman enlisting in the military medical unit. As an Army Medic, he was an enlisted “first responder” of the Vietnam War. He along with other corpsman saved countless lives, often at great risk to themselves. Besides providing trauma care on the battlefield, he was responsible for the day-to-day prevention and treatment of a wide range of injuries and diseases among the troops. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran serving his country honorably. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as friends and family will attest.
As a young man he was an avid boxer, with his remarkable skill, commitment, and passion he attained numerous victories, and if you lent him an ear he would share his countless boxing stories.
Martin was a man of deep faith and while living in Abilene, Texas, he was an active member of the Baptist church and participated in many ministries.
